As you've got a baby you probably won't be wanting to (or have time to) edit footage so you might want to think about recording direct to DVD.

As TV's all go widescreen it would make sense to buy a camcorder that records in 16:9 (widescreen format).

Most camcorders will also take still images so if you plan to keep the camcorder handy make sure it takes the stills as well.

The final issue is going to use it and finding that the battery is flat - many camcorders use a docking station which allows charging easily and conveniently.

Last thing to mention; you said "To capture all those beautiful baby moments" - my baby soon grew up to a 15 year old boy - I have over 70 hours of film (now all transferred to DVD) taken throughout his life so far.

Without the continued record you'd be amazed how much we all forget - and it makes for great viewing on a miserable winters Saturday afternoon!

Don't stop filming when they start to grow - and film everything feeding, playing, sleeping, swimming, even being naughty!

I haven't suggested a camcorder because the right one is the one you are comfortable holding - hope the buying advice helps.
