  1. It usually only takes a week or so to feel better, don't worry! Most of the pain is just the first day after the pain medicine wears off. After that it's just a bit sore and you can't really EAT (which is also a PAIN) anything solid for a while.

I remember when I got mine out, a friend brought me home-made tamales to eat, because they are soft, but they made me throw up... I think just juice and clear soup is best the first few days...

    Good luck!

  2. I had mine out in the dentists office with lots of novocaine, I also used nitrous oxide.  It took only about 30 minutes for two teeth.  He filled the places where the teeth had been with sterile ground glass (made for this purpose) and sutured the gums shut with material that would dissolve.  They can also use purified human bone to fill the sockets, if you prefer.  There was NO PAIN at all, didn't even have to take a Tylenol.  Just had to be careful of what I ate, because of the sutures.  The filling of the sockets eliminates the pain that you would normally have post extraction.  This was six years ago and I would recommend this highly.

it shouldn't hurt getting them out because you will be put under general or local anaesthetic. Some people prefer to be put in hospital so they can be fully asleep when it happens but of course this costs alot more. You will probably feel a little bit of discomfort and you will feel pain afterwards in which case you should just take some pain relief medication. You'll be fine!

btw, the pain should last a few days so hopefully you be fine for xmas - you'll want to enjoy all the yummy food!

  4. ok so i got mine out literally a week ago.  Everyone is always nervous about the operation, thats not nothing gt the iv feel you don't feel any needle when they put it in for some reason then your just sleeping and when you wake up its over. all i felt was like i couldn't open my mouth that much but your still a little loopy.  Onc eyou get home lay in your take a pian killer right away this way when the anthesia wears off you won't feel any discomfort.  I'll be honest with you my doctor only gave me 12 pain killers which sucked they were gone in like 3-4 days, as for the pain if you don't take something it could be very bad one time i fell asleep and forgot and woke up crying and im a 20 year old guy so just take the pain killers even before you need to don't wait till you feel pain just keep taking something every 3-4 hours.  You won't eat too much, taste of blood stinks, mouth can smell a little and taste funny.  Important thing to remember is after the first day you kinda can do whatever you feel but i'm just starting to be like fully recoverd i got mine out on last teusday and was at work on monday with alot of tylenol and aleve just in case but you should be alright for xmas.  I would say just assume a week to be safe longest should be a week and a half but everyone is different you will be fine though and you get to watch tv and do whatever you which is kind of awsome just playing xbox or something and time will fly if your not to doped out.

  5. You will be in some pain at first but should have pain killers. The pain will subside relatively quickly. You may have facial swelling for awhile.

  6. dont panic, it depends how easy or difficult, normal or surgical, if normal and not difficult it wont take more than 2-3 days if healing is undisturbed, and very early happy new year

  7. Listen to someone who has just been through it like 5 days ago... I got all mine pulled out... They say it only lasts 3-4 days... COMPLETE BULL!!! You need to be home for at LEAST 1 week... I had to call my work and tell them I needed extra time off... You won't even feel the top teeth... You will most likely just feel the bottom like me. For me, its been 5 days and I am still swollen up (not that bad but right side worse than left) and the pain... As long as you take Ibuprophen (Motrin), you will be OK! Just really sore... Remember to put ice on your jaw, not on the actual cheek in the middle, but the Jaw part because that is what causes the soreness... Oh, DO NOT PUT A HEATING PAD! It does nothing... Your face is already a heating pad with blood running through it, you need ice, not heat! GL! And relax... The worst part is the recovery... I AM HATING THIS SO MUCH!!! AHHHH! But I am glad I got it over with!!! Oh, your Oral Surgeon will prob. tell you to take penicillin with motrin... An advice, kill the penicillin as soon as you can because your stomach will start throwing fireworks like mine did and it wasn't a pretty site in the bathroom!!! GL!
