  1. reduces labour but increases stress when it goes wrong.

  2. Modern technology reduces stress for the one who use it but increases stress for the one who makes it.

A simple law of Physics "Everything is conserved. Nothing can be created and nothing can be destroyed but things can only change their form."

  3. It increases stress if you don't have a big enough brain to figure out how to use it. (me)

  4. Increases stress...I mean just imagine how it was before the internet and everything...things were just alright...in most of my classes there is so much technology that is just hard to follow what to do..like for my physics class they put everything on-line...and then for chem. they tell you what homework you have to do in one web-page and then you have to do everything on another...and then sometimes you finish writting something and you are about to send it and the computer shuts down...it has happened to me...very stressful...although there are some cool things about modern technology...if you really thing about it though...most technological advances help to make things faster so once things get slow again...not cool...

  5. Its not modern technology that increases stress it is the processes surrounding the technology.

If you think about all of the things that you need to do in order to get a passport, all of the hoops you have to jump through, that is what increases stress, rather than the computers or the airplane.  If you think about getting your drivers license and all of the things that you need to do in order to get your drivers license so that you can drive alone, that is what increases stress - the processes and procedures behind it.  If you think about how much it costs for a washing machine, then electricity, water and all of the bills, that is what increases stress, rather than the washing machine itself.

  6. Carol made a great point that it's the processes surrounding the technology that are stressful.

I think modern technology both reduces and increases stress.  Having advanced technology can help us in many aspects of our life, like decreasing the amount of time on a project.  But since the amount of time has been shortened, we'll often be expected to pick up another project to complete in that time previously saved.  It's like moving twice as fast.

I used to be a total technology addict.  I was always attached to my cell and on the computer daily.  That side of my life totally changed after going two months without a cell or computer.  My life became so less stressful. I realized I could function just as well without technology.  I've currently slipped with the computer and can tell the difference.  I feel like things are more urgent, I'm anxious and that my days are lost.  It's strange.
