£2.50 e/w, odds 7-1, it won what will i get return?

I put £2.50 each way on a horse that won at 7-1.

What will i get back?

(this is just to settle an argument before i go to the bookies)

  1. £20 for the win plus a portion of the odds for the each way part of the bet.  The actual portion would depend on how many runners were in the race.

    (Betting tax was abolished YEARS ago)


  2. If the race paid 1/4 of the odds for each way then you get back £26.87.

    If it paid 1/5 of the odds, then you get back £26.00

  3. £26.87 including your stake money returned (assuming you paid the betting tax when you laid the bet)

  4. you will get just over 25 quid, give or take 50p or so depending if the race paid 1/4 or 1/5 the odds on the place
