Question:

£60 fine for street parking

my daughter bought a car last week and parked it in my driveway until she got insurance sorted out, which she has now got but is awaiting her documents, so she couldn't get road tax until insurance arrived. We moved the car onto the road to wash my car, which she is insured to drive. While we were getting organised at the back of the house (and a cup of tea) a **** traffic warden had passed and slapped a £60 fine on to her windscrean. All in the space of about 10-15 minutes!!!! We are livid. Is there anything we can do to get this fine removed.??

  1. NO.  It was un-taxed and on the public highway. The length of time there is immaterial.  Pay up and be pleased it was a Traffic Warden and not Plod, as you could have been done for being un-insured as well !!!

  2. No, the car was where it shouldn't have been and you get fined for that.

  3. If the vehicle was on the road without a tax disc you are lucky they didn`t clamp the car. Not a lot you can do.

  4. Ha No Luck

  5. Write to the Chief Costable of your City, and explain the circumstances . He will decide if you could be reimbursed. Do not give up if he decides against you, but keep writing to Him until you get satisfaction. Good Luck.

  6. Sorry but as they say " BANG TOO RIGHTS".  Try writing and see what happens.

My wifes car year past January tax had run out on 31/12/07.  As we were on holiday completely forgot about it.  Dead on the 15th day it was sitting outside on the street and we noticed a police car parked in front.  The wpc got out put a ticket on windscreen.

£30.  fine, So I went  on too website to buy tax disc but couldn't too late, so decided to go to PO first thing in the morning.   Next morning, another ticket on the frozen screen.  At 5 am a Traffic car went by and put another ticket on it.  I managed to get that one cancelled, but the first was legal.

And me a driving instructor.  As I don't need to worry about tax disc/insurance etc, I get a new car every 17K miles or every 3months.

  7. its called illegal parking, pay the fine

  8. you can try to write a letter arguing the situation but unfortunately it wont solve anything, further more you have to pay the full fine rather than the reduced 14 days fine. You have to be lucky he didn't clamp or removed your vehicle. You are telling about 10-15 minutes but I have been fined for my motorcycle for not having the parking ticket in 3-5 minutes period, can you imagine how we are going to put parking ticket in motorcycle I argued but still they said I cant do anything. If you still didnt pay then the bailiff will come and knock your door.

  9. Well you could right  letter to the council or whoever employs the traffic wardens (address is usually on the back of the PCN) explaining your situation but i don't think you will be able to get your fine removed if you were parked in a restricted street i.e. yellow lines ect and if it for your tax they can't issue a fine for no tax.

  10. how annoying is that!!! Yes - I would DEFINITELY appeal! When your cover note comes through, get the car taxed, and go down to wherever you have to pay the fine and show them the dates on the insurance documents (take the envelope it arrives in for proof of date of postage) and show them that you were actually waiting for the ins to get the tax and tell them to do one and penalise REAL law breakers!!

  11. Sorry but no. Its a good job they have relaxed the 'failure to display a current road fund licence' otherwise you could be stuffed with up to £1000.

Incidentally, once your insurance has been accepted by the company, the Motor Insurers database would have been updated almost immediately, and Tax could have been purchased online without waiting.

  12. As far as i know, this is a question with many different answers,it is really depend on the judgement of yourself, provide a great resource here for reference though.http://car-insurance.bestips.info/car-in...

  13. Sorry but if on the public highway without a valid vehicle exercise duty  disc you have committed an offence

  14. No,Just pay up and take it as a lesson learned.
