Hi, I have a 21 month old son, and this is my first. I don't really know when to start potty training him. How do I know he's ready? Is this too early? And how would I go about potty training him? Thanks!

With Love,

Shelbye ♥

  1. When the child can ride a tricycle that means they have developed enough that you can potty train them.

  2. You really just have to look for signs of readiness. With my kids, they would tell me they would want to wear panties, and that they hated diapers. They asked to use the big boy/girl potty. Those are just some of the signs. Also, Carson needs to be able to follow directions, too. When he is doing these things, you know he's ready. 21 months is around when I started to try to potty train with most my kids.

    Good Luck!

  3. boys are slow trust me (my brother didn't start until he was 3!) Don't rush him unless he's starting school. Girls are always faster. I potty trained my daughter at a year and six months. I'm in the process of turning the bathroom in her room into a more kid friendly one just for her. Encourage him show him some cool big boy undies. Don't get frustrated when he pees himself, and if he uses the potty reward him with something. I know what it's like having a baby young I thought I was in love with the b*****d, but I guess he wasn't.

  4. Right now!

If you want him to learn fast!

    get him a training tolit!

Every time he goes in his diaper say no and point to the tolit!

no it isnt to early and he is ready now!

you had him when you were 18 or 19? wow that is young!

    have a nice day!

  5. Most children begin potty training sometime around 18 months to three years of age.

Even in an older child, it is important to look for signs of readiness before you begin potty training, including:

-staying dry for at least 2 hours at a time

    -having regular bowel movements

-being able to follow simple instructions

-being uncomfortable with dirty diapers and wanting them to be changed

-asking to use the potty chair

    -asking to wear regular underwear.

    Good luck! :)
