  1. Passport holder of the following countries do not require a Syrian visa: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, UAE and Yemen.

Citizens of United Kingdom residing in United Kingdom have to apply for a visa to Syria in person at the nearest consulate of Syria in United Kingdom.

Visa fees for British passport holder:

    32 GBP single-entry - validity three months.

    50 GBP multiple-entry - validity six months.

Then check with the Syrian Embassy in Turkey

Consulate General of SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC

Address : Macka Caddesi Ralli Apt. 59/3 Tesvikiye Istanbul

    Phone : (212) 232 67 21 , 232 71 10

    Fax : (212) 230 22 15

  2. if you are on a tourist visa in Turkey, most of the times you are not allowed to ask for a visa to another country; it must be made from the UK.

as for you car rental, you must check with the rental agency to see if indeed you may take the car out of the country, i doubt it very much....
