  1. Here are a few good ones..

Smile- Hold a treat in your hand stand in front of your horse. Raise hand to horses mouth. Tickle their lip until it curls while saying "smile". Eventually you will not need to touch their lip.

Bow- Make sure you are in a sandy area and protect your horses knees! Hold hoof up with lead rope guide your horses head down to where you will be holding a treat between it's legs. Keep repeating"Take a bow". Don't force them down take it slowly. Only expect the horse to rock back slightly the first time.

Kiss- Simply hold a treat to your cheek while saying "kisses". Eventually ditch the treat.

Hug- Stand at your horses left shoulder facing the neck. Wrap your left arm underneath the neck. Take right hand and guide horses head around your back while patting the neck with left hand saying "I need a hug". Again your horse won't bend all of the way around you the first time but he'll get it. Eventually the tapping on the neck and "hug" will be your cue.

With all of these tricks make sure you emphasize the important words such as "Bow", "Hug" , "Smile". IT's loads of fun just don't over do it or your horse will burn out. I know lots more but work on these for awhile!!! Good luck and only keep your lessons to maybe 5- 10 minutes for the first week or so. At least til the hors gets the idea of whats going on!!

  2. i taught my pony how to bow. you just pick up his hoof like you are going to pick it out, then still holding it take a carrot between his legs and make him stretch his neck. as he moves keep holding the leg but move with him till his knee is touching the ground. good luck!

  3. bowing, put a treat behind his front leg and make him reach for it wen he does give it to him

  4. how to sit i dont know how you do it but it looks so funny look up on the web how to do it do tricks on his back like run and jump up from behind and stand up on him

  5. I taught my appaloosa to shake hands. I would lift his front leg forward and place it on an upturned bucket (a sturdy one) and would reward him for leaving it there. After a few days of this I then taught him by gently tapping behind his knee with a whip to raise his foot and hold it in the air.  Next step was to gently grasp his foot in my hand and shake it gently, immediately rewarding for his efforts without him pulling his foot away. He was a smarty so made it easy training. As for bowing use the lead between his legs rather than food as this will make them only work for food rewards and can cause more problems. Nothing like a good pat and cuddle for your horse.
