I need help. I just don't get math. Its so hard. Like when their quizzes, classwork and stuff I pass with B's..but when you give me a test I fail with straight F's. I'll be surpise if I get a anything higher than a D in a test.I just don't get it. I need to LOVE math or am in big trouble in my class this year. Cuz test grades are like 70% of my grade.

How doI LOVE math. what do I do

  1. Your mind is either mathematical and musical or artistic with a slant towards science.

I am betting you missed one of the key lessons in math and you could not catch up. It is either division or fractions, ratios or equations. You know where you freeze up in the math problems because obviously YOU HAVE BEEN DOING SOME OF THEM, like more than 50% - so, it's clear you know SOME of the principles, just not all; and that's why you cannot solve the math problems. Find out where you freeze up by crossing off all the things you know. Then, go to a teacher and ask her to go over the lessons that you missed. Then ask a tutor to spend time with you until you get each lesson that you are unclear about.

If you have a problem asking for what you need, show this answer to your teacher. She will tell your tutor what lessons you are weak in and which lessons need to be explained in detail.

Once you get the trick, you will be delighted to solve any or all math puzzles.

  2. You may have test anxiety or a learning disability. Many students have trouble with timed tests, especially in mathematical subjects. They get nervous, misread or misinterpret the questions, and experience that "blank" feeling when they read the questions (and that makes them more nervous). Then they look around and see other students writing furiously, finishing the problems, and turning in their tests, and it all seems hopeless. If this sounds familiar, ask your school counselor if you can be evaluated for a learning problem. Testing accommodations often solve the problem. Extra time, a private room, and/or having someone read questions to the student out loud can make a big difference. Once your confidence improves, you may be able to go back to the normal test situation.

Another strategy that is often overlooked is to go over old tests and see if you can figure out what you're doing wrong. For instance, a student may re-read a question after getting the test back and say, "I knew the answer to that! But for some reason I read the question wrong." That tells them what they can do differently next time.

  3. I would work on getting a "D" its better then getting a F, That's what you must avoid getting F's in School A+, A's, B's, C's, even D's and D+ are consider Passing and not Failing D-'s and F's those you don't want or need on your Report Card.

  4. Talk to your teacher. It's probably anxiety because you know how much the tests do to your grade, so you do poorly. Your teacher should understand, so talk to him/her after class.

  5. Hello,

Well I was bad at math to. I tohguh I was never gonig to learn it. I always got bad grades. Math and me were just hopeless. So I sat down and said to myself, what are the things that could cause it?  Stress, anger, worried, all different stuff or you could be in love. Well that was not one of the causes for me. So I talked to my mom and she said she would help me the best she can. Have you talk to your mom? If you havn't you should. If have then what she say? Did she help you? My mom said on weekends she would help me, wich improved. She knew that when I'm done with my home work, I want to relax and have fun. She agreed on that. So she said a fun way to learn math is doing math games on the interntet they are really fun and you learn a lot. During the week I would go up to school and my teacher would help me on my math and so she did afterschool. On my free time from school i get a very nice tutor. Ask your mom to email your teacher about this, I bet she would be glad to help. Have you talk to your teacher? I bet he or she would be glad to help. So just do these, ask parents, ask teacher, get  tutor, play math fun games. All these would help you so much. It really helped me and I passed the Math taks. Now I know math much better and very good at it, you cant even realize I was even bad to the start. So I hope for the best for you. I will be praying for you. I hope you do good luck on your test and good luck. So take care and good luck.

    (:

You don't have to love math to do well in it.  Just use some effective test taking strategies, with the help of a counselor or teacher or tutor.  Good luck - I wish you a successful math-year!

  11. What made math fun for me is learning to REALLY understand it.  Math is fascinating.  What I did to get through some classes was buy a few math work books (at local book store) and read every part of it and solved every problem.  I did it and did it until I understood the LOGIC behind how the problem is solved.  Once you understand it, math is like a game.

Motivation? Some of the highest paying careers require excellence in math.
