Question:

♥Why are you vegetarian♥?

Hi, I just wanted to know why YOU are vegetarian.

I am vegetarian because I love animals and want to become a vet. I think it's cruel the way people kill animals for taste buds. I would rather hug a cow then eat one. Even though its hard, I love to know that I'm saving lives by saying NO to meat and YES to tofu :)

:) I want to make a difference and let animals have lives to live.

What about you?

  1. I used to be vegetarian, I'm vegan now.

1.Due to the fact that its disgusting the way cows, chickens, turkey's, etc, are treated, just for some milk and eggs.

    2.Because i love animals

I watched this video a couple of days ago, it really shows you what REALLY goes on at farms, and slaughter houses, take a look - http://www.meat.org

  2. Can vegans answer this question too?

I'm vegan because I believe in an animal's rights to live the way it wants. I think that we are no higher than they are. We are all animals living on the same planet.

I'm vegan because I want to end animal suffering and murder.

I'm vegan because I believe in ahimsa, and I think we should all strive to be as non-violent as we can.

I'm vegan because it is a selfless act, and because I care more about other beings than I do about my taste buds or an easy cop out.

I'm vegan because meat is the number one cause of heart disease and I want to be healthy.  Vegetarians, and particularly vegans, live substantially longer lives than their meat eating counterparts.

I'm vegan because I couldn't buy a hamburger and happily eat it knowing that I paid for a cow to get strung up by its foot and have its throat slit and stuffed into a meat grinder.

Also, it's disgusting to me to imagine eating a piece of flesh, somebody's skin and muscles. It's like Hannibal Lecter status.

And with milk, I think it's grotesque that anyone could want to drink something that oozed out of someone else. And eggs come out of chicken vaginas. EW.

I'm vegan because I believe in environmental protection.

  3. i'm a veggi coz i can nevr think of eating another being....being killed

  4. i am for the same reason!

  5. I'm a vegetarian mostly cuz of the same reasons as you!  I want to be a vet too, and I think that killing animals is cruel.  We can get all the deliciousness and nutrirtion we need from veggies and fruits!

I also don't like the way people kill animals.  In the US, they kill cows by shocking them with electric wires or something of the sort!  I mean, THAT'S PLAIN MEAN!!!!!

  6. I'm a veggie because when I was 14, I looked at a Whopper before I was about to bite into it, and it looked disgusting. It looked like little worms baked into the meat. GROSS.

    Smooches;)

  7. I am a vegan because, who are we to decide how and when an animal dies. It is not necessary for us to to treat them in such a cruel and depraved way. They are the same as us beings. Do they not feel, think and breath? For humans to even ponder on the thought of treating someone in such a way; putting them in such a state.....there is no word for it.

  8. FOR THE ANIMALS:

    ************************

Today the majority of farmed animals are:

-confined to the point that they can barely move,

    -denied veterinary care,

    -mutilated without painkillers,

-and finally slaughtered often while fully conscious.

    FOR OUR EARTH:

    ***********************

According to Dr. David Brubaker, PhD, at Johns Hopkins University’s Center for a Livable Future, “The way that we breed animals for food is a threat to the planet. It pollutes our environment while consuming huge amounts of water, grain, petroleum, pesticides and drugs. The results are disastrous.”

    FOR MY HEALTH:

    **********************

“Vegetarian diets offer a number of nutritional benefits, including lower levels of saturated fat, cholesterol, and animal protein, as well as higher levels of carbohydrates, fiber, magnesium, potassium, folate, and antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and phytochemicals. Vegetarians have been reported to have lower body mass indices than nonvegetarians, as well as lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; vegetarians also show lower blood cholesterol levels; lower blood pressure; and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer.”

--American Dietetic Association, June 2003 position paper

  9. I am mainly vegetarian because I find it disgusting to eat pieces of a corpse.

Apart from that I don't believe that humans are meant to eat meat, and I love animals.

  10. im only half vegetarian. i eat chicken and fish but not beef and pork. im a vegetarian because i want to be healthier and to provide a challenge for myself to see if i can do it.

  11. I am vegan for the same reason as you. its the most popular reason to become vegan. i watched a video (meet your meet) and it made me realize how cruel i am to animals and how we could stop it if we just stopped eating meat.

I also realized how good fruits and veggies are:)

  12. 4 da same reason you are :)

i was just raised that way but im so glad i was

  13. Im not vegan but i get your point, but also listen to this its not from me its from carlos mencia (very funny comedian). I am a responible american becase i eat cows becuase cows f**t, and when they f**t they make methane gas and carbondioxide (i think some type of gases tho) and these gasses are depelting the ozone layer, while you eat the plants that turn those nasty gases into nice clean oxygen. Im eating the problem your eating the solution! now i do eat a wide varitey of foods myself and very little cow i perfer bison

  14. Hello.

I wanna be a vegetarian because i don't like eating meat it feels so weird because animals don't eat you but you eat them.I don't wanna be a vet b/c i don't like seeing animals in pain!

  15. i love animals and couldnt imagine eating them. Even as a kid and like you see on some tv shows when a kid finds out their hamburger is chopped up cow they freak! Thats how I was and couldnt do it.

  16. Meat makes my stomach hurt. I have no problem with people eating animals, I just prefer to not have intestinal pain. I've read that pork can stay in your system for up to 30 days.

  17. I'm not really a vegetarian, but I'm mostly meat-free for health reasons.

A friend is getting a PhD in endocrinology, and she asked me to look over her regressions for a paper that she was writing (I'm an econometrician, so I work with data and run regressions for a living). I almost threw up while reading the paper- the amount of estrogen that they give to cattle and chickens is disgusting, and these were FDA approved amounts. I did some extra research and found out that this is very standard practice, so I slowly weaned myself off meat.
