He doesn't even know who the Allies were fighting against in WWII! (He stated that Roosevelt was willing to talk to our enemies because Roosevelt met Stalin at Yalta & that the POTUS should thus also be willing to talk to our enemies - he meant Iran. But Stalin was an ally against the Axis forces at the time.)

Also, when he finally visited the troops he was so naive as to state that they had not expressed any disagreement with his stated intent for an immediate withdrawal & concluded that they agreed with him. This demonstrated his complete ignorance of the requirement that a person in uniform never publicly express their political opinion about a national issue involving the military. Generals get fired for doing that unless they are authorized to testify to Congress.

Can I presume that if he is elected he won't be in charge of the Coast Guard or the Public Health Corps?

Humh. I'm afraid those two services won't be able to defend the US by themselves but I bet they will try.

If Sen. Obama is elected President, US interests will be subjected to several horrific attacks either here at home, or overseas, before March 2009 or the next mystical jihadist date, whichever comes next.

Absolutely...He is the most competent and thoughtful person along with his VP to command the US armed forces.  Do you think that if McCain dropped dead of a heatache, stroke, or stricken ill with cancer...Ms. Clueless (Sarah Palin) could command the Armed forces with a strength and seriousness of a President.  Not hardly...given that she doesn't even know what a VP does on a day to day basis.  How could she know what the President does...on a day to day basis...This is a serious issue, people...

It's a weird question.  The president is commander in chief, but the office of president is and has always been a civilian office - the president isn't required to have any specific military training.  He is after all not planning military strategy, nor is he at the front lines leading the troops.  His job is to set the foreign policy objectives of the country, and to tell the Pentagon to figure out whatever military objectives he wants to accomplish.
