  1. The saying is actually, "'I see,' said the blind man, as he picked up his hammer and SAW."

It's an old play on words:

    1.  "Saw" can be either a tool for cutting wood, or past tense of the verb "to see".

    2.   "I see" can mean either "I understand" or literally, "I see" (with his eyes).

So the entire statement can mean "'I understand', said the blind man, as he picked up his tools", or "'I can see!' said the blind man, as he picked up his hammer and could suddenly see."

  2. It's actually:

"I see," said the blind man, as his picked up a hammer and saw.

    Get it now?

  3. i have a blind friend and i think its means he can see with his hands and mind not with its eye

  4. its just being sarcastic... but also showing that even though everyone in the world is different in some way ....everyone is able to offer their own advice, or talents....

  5. Stupidity???

  6. 'at first i was blind but now i can see' probably  is the same kind of saying. i take it it means you have gained knowledge of something you previous knew nothing about.

'i see' said the blind man. (he sees in his head.)

  7. Who ever told you that was a little off. its I see said the blind man as he picked up a hammer and saw. Dont know where it came from but im sure if you google it you will get your answer.

the phrase "i see" has a double meaning, in that by "I see" , the blind man doesn't "see" anything with his eyes, but rather simply means "I understand". The extra bit about saying something (whether it is directed at his deaf dog, wife, daughter, brother, man, etc) to one who is deaf, is pointless and adds a little humor to the phrase. The other bit on the end is just more of the same "As he picked up his hammer and saw" wouldn't be nearly as funny if it were stated "as he picked up his hammer and cutting tool"
