What effect does that knowledge have on you life in general?

Does it bother you? Or does it make you enjoy your life more?

Are you at peace with that? Or you don’t believe in evolution?

All answers and ideas are welcome,

  1. As a naturalist, it is the "natural" evidence of science. The Atomists who created Naturalism, which prevailed as the western world view for 1000 years until Augustine, knew that no god had created us. Thomas Jefferson hinted once that we were products of evolution, but the word was not invented and he said it differently.

I neither bothers me nor makes me enjoy life more. I must be at peace with it because it is the justified true belief of naturalism.

  2. I love how all the christians come here and throw their religion around, several of them on this question have stated "evolution is not true" this aggravates me mainly because they don't even take the time to research it and see the evidence.  Just because they don't believe it they say its not true.

But I am not going to tear their religion apart like I so easily could, frankly I am not go to stoop to their level, its just rude to bash someones understanding just because it different from your own.

I know evolution to be true, and honestly I think I am far more happy because I know it, I understand things better, I also have a better understanding of the world as a whole, especially people which are animals, and because I understand evolution, I understand the individual as well as the group. I honestly felt joy when I first started learning about evolution, and I am still happy for it, so in response to one of the others answers, I did find happiness without your god and would appreciate your tolerance and for you to just keep your forceful ways to yourself. I am fully at peace with evolution, some may think that oh no, because of evolution there is no after life, and this is simply not true, we still have spirits and ghosts don't we?

And a word to the christians, I challenge you to research your relgions history without blind faith, with a historical and logical point of view if you will, and see if you truly believe what you claim to do, then I will laugh as you kick yourself for blindly following nothing. you should start with learning about how christianity is basically repackaged paganism, maybe you should learn about Mirthra instead of Jesus.

P.S: I am sorry if any of this offends you; its not my intent

  3. No- Why does it matter how I got here? Isn’t the point that I’m HERE, NOW... Why should I care about if my ancestors were apes, or if an alien overlord created me?

  4. Yes if it is true it does not matter if you live or die.

If it feels good do it.

    But evolution is not true.

  5. It makes me feel good that science has progressed although there is always more to learn.

  6. We all are made from a drop of s***n. So all of us are live forms of s***n, who have tendency to grow, act, feel, fight or make noise and finish.

  7. It is absolutely the same thing as recognizing that "we humans are the products of childbirth."

    Ask yourself this ...

Does it diminish your importance or purpose in life to know that you are the product of the biological process we call human reproduction?   If not, then why would it diminish your importance or purpose in life to know that your species is the product of the biological process we call human evolution?

Does it change the way you feel about yourself to know that scientists are able trace the process that produces the human being down to things like recombination of chromosomes and embryological development?  If not then why would it change the way you feel about yourself to know that scientists are able to trace he process that produces the human species down to things like mutation of chromosomes, and natural selection?

Does it threaten the concept of God, or eliminate your ability to believe that He played a part in your personal Creation, to realize that the odds of the particular sperm and egg coming together to produce your unique genetics are *astronomically* low (1in 2^46)?  If not, then why does it threaten the concept of God, or eliminate your ability to believe that He played a part in the Creation of the human species, to realize that the origins of life also appears to have been an event governed by random laws?

[Aside:  There is also randomness in evolution ... but it is not random.   Mutations are random, but natural selection is the NON-RANDOM force that relentlessly eliminates bad mutations and propagates good ones.   So evolution is a *FAR* less random process that human sexual reproduction.]

Would it make an iota of difference to how you live your life today if your distant ancestors were brutal barbarians or thieves?  If not, then why would it make an iota of difference to how you live your life today if your even more distant ancestors were fruit-eating primates or early therapsids?

You are *always* more than your biological origins!

  8. I have no problem with it.  I respect science and it has led us to that conclusion.  I try to focus on living happily in the moment.

  9. Doesn't really matter we are here, enjoy it regardless of your beliefs. Both our understanding of evolution and our beliefs will change in the future and have already changed the past despite our current beliefs and knowledge on evolution.

  10. It has no effect on the quality of my life, but after much study I am convinced of its utter correctness.  To the extent that this understanding has given me a fuller and better understanding of all I see around me, I guess you could say that it has made my life richer and more interesting.

  11. I don't believe in evolution.  I believe in the Genesis account of creation in the Bible.  I would, however, like to understand those of you who believe in evolution and why you are not sad about it.  I think that I would be distraught if I felt that my life had no more purpose than that of an animal.  I don't know where I would draw my goodness and morality from.

Rather, though, I am glad that God created me and that I find purpose in serving Him.  I have done intense research into the theory of evolution and into the biblical account of creation and I would be glad to share why I choose to believe the Bible if I had enough space here.  If you want to know why I believe what I believe, you can find out at http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/are...

Ponder a version of Pascal's Wager.....  If God and the Bible are true and you believe, you gain everything...but...If God and the Bible are true and you don't believe, you will lose everything.

    Choose wisely!

  12. Evolution is not a thing to be a product of Evolution is not a thing its a process.

Its like saying we are a product of growing up.

As it is nothing it does not effect me

Everyone of us can be proud because every single one of us are descendants who have ancestors who have survived since life began through all extinctions threats disease etc if anything this should make you proud that your blood line exist and you shouldn't end it now.

If Evolution were a thing which we would be products of then I will feel the same I know I and everyone is related and we are related to all animals plants bacteria etc one big family of Nature

  13. We humans are not products of evolution. We are created by God and for God, and God never ceases to draw us to himself. Only in God will we find the truth and happiness we never stop searching for.

  14. i believe in evolution. it doesnt bother me none, just sometime from now on the human race may not exist. like evolve into something else. its a tripp when you really think about it.

  15. I believe in evolution bc i believe in science. And no, it doesnt bother me at all. Why does it?
