Africans.
Cricket has been excellent from both the sides, thanks to some brilliant individual performances.
Let’s take a look at some of the players who could make the difference in the fifth ODI.
Graeme Smith
Graeme Smith replaced Robin Peterson, after recovering from the finger injury, courtesy of a Shoaib Akhtar bouncer in the first match. The South African captain was missed in the previous two ODIs, mainly as an opener as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johan-Botha-c67173 did a terrific job while
leading the side.
Graeme Smith scored a scintillating 92 runs in the fourth ODI in an innings of great composure and authority which also included nine crisp boundaries.
Akhtar treated Smith with short stuff which he dealt with quite easily. His pull shot and whip through mid wicket was the highlight of his innings. Placement was the key as gathered a lot of ones and twos.
As far as the captaincy is concerned, it was the best of the games for the Proteas captain as he lost a nerve jangler second ODI on the penultimate ball.
Adding to the worries, he dropped Wahab Riaz who later struck 18 runs off just 10 balls to set up a nice victory for his team.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-Morkel-c77722
Morne Morkel has been the best bowler in the series from both sides. On flat pitches of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the tall fellow has managed to produce steep bounce. In addition, his line and length has been immaculate to follow up with his extra bit of pace.
Morkel has so far scalped 8 wickets at an average of 20 with a best of 4/47. More importantly, the economy rate of 4.5 on lifeless pitches is commendable.
Morne has been South Africa’s man in the series. He has provided his team with early breakthroughs, a couple of wickets in the middle and one or two towards the end of innings. Going into the next game, the talented right-arm seamer remains an integral part
of his team’s plan to dent the opposition.
